A retired Army officer, he spent 26 years in service, including roles as Chief of Analysis at the Army Heritage Center, Director of the Military History Institute, and nine years as a history professor at West Point.

J. Mark Jackson served as a Cavalry Platoon Leader in the U.S. Army and completed the Armor Officer’s Advanced Course and Airborne. After transitioning to the private sector, he worked for Goodyear, Cooper Tire, and Tire & Battery Corp. He also spent 15 years as a leadership trainer and consultant for U.S. federal agencies and corporate clients.

Larry Korczyk has been a Licensed Battlefield Guide at Gettysburg since 2013. With 30+ years in logistics, he has a deep passion for Civil War history, becoming a reenactor and co-authoring Top Ten at Gettysburg. Brian McAllister Linn is a History Professor at Texas A&M, specializing in Military History. He received the 2023 Society for Military History’s Samuel Eliot Morrison Prize and has held prestigious fellowships and visiting professorships at institutions like the U.S. Army War College and the University of Birmingham.

Professor Lord teaches at the U.S. Army War College and directs the Joint Warfighting Advanced Studies Program. A retired Navy Surface Warfare Officer with 31 years of service, he commanded the USS Clark and completed nine deployments. After serving in the U.S. Navy, she retired from Active Duty and Reserve roles before transitioning to her current role as a guide.

Eric Palomaa is the director of the Hess Center for New Frontiers at CSIS, where he leads strategy and foresight workshops. He has also worked as a senior adviser for CSIS Executive Education and held roles at Brookings and Argonne National Laboratory. He holds a master’s in Middle Eastern studies from the University of Chicago.

Before joining the company, he served 27 years as a U.S. Army Aviator and Foreign Area Officer, including as Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, managing key defense programs.

Matthew Pinsker holds the Brian Pohanka Chair of Civil War History at Dickinson College and directs the House Divided Project, a digital resource initiative on the Civil War era.
